Treasure Life Layout

Wednesday, April 6, 2011
Last November {2010}, I signed up for a challenge over at Scrapbook.com. And the challenge was to use the colors brown, cream and pink. I was so excited....:D

The first thing I did was find the right pictures I wanted to use, then I drew a sketch how I want my scrapbook layout looked like. So, here's my hand-drawn sketch...{This was my very first time I drew a sketch, and it was fun}.

I know....It looked so ugly...LOL. So, I decided to turn this hand-drawing into a good-looking computer sketch. I'm not a professional, I learned from trials and errors {I must admit -- It's a challenge}. And finally I did it.

This looked much better, but still I need to learn a lot more.
Well, and here's my take on my own sketch.

At the end of the month, I found out I didn't even make it to top 3 fave. However, I gave myself a pat on my shoulder {LOL}...I finally did something that I'd never done before. Overall...I'm happy with how everything turned out. Yay....

I will treasure this experience and hope to draw many more sketches in a near future.
Thanks you so much for stopping by. Take Care.

Monday, April 4, 2011
Ok...I think I've watched too much children movies. This saying, "Soar with the wind bullseye" {Toy Story}, has been in my head all day today while working on this DT Call submission card for SP & Company.

Liebster Blog Award

Sunday, April 3, 2011
A couple weeks ago, a fellow scrapper left me a sweet comment on my post and also told me that she awarded me with a Liebster Blog Award. My oh my....I was surprised. :D

This fellow scrapper name is Maggie. I met her {in Cyberspace world} months ago over at The ScrapBeach online community. She joined my 12 days of Christmas Swap, and I had a chance to get to know her better.

Maggie, thank you so much for this award. I really appreciate it. And now...I'm ready to share the love. But before that....you should check Maggie's Blog, Love My Scrap and Art Journal, and find out lots of artful inspirations.

The Liebster Award is designed to be awarded to 'small' blogs with less than 300 subscribers to spread the blog love and get them out to a wider audience.

The rules are:
1. Display the award on a post & link back to the person who awarded you
2. Choose your own blog picks & let them know they're awarded (3-5 blogs)
3. Hope everyone discovers some new favorites
4. Reveal in the blog love

So, here's 3 bloggers that I love and always looking forward to their creations.
The first one is Mariana -- Angel Wings and Beautiful Things -- She always makes beautiful mini album, and her creations are just stunning.
The second one is Ivett -- Ivett Carrillo Designs -- I've been stalking her blog for awhile now. She's an amazing artist. She made beautiful cards, mini albums, and also altered items. She's just AMAZING.

The third one is Paula -- Crafty Mommy24cs -- She just started this blog not too long ago and has been sharing beautiful artworks. I'm totally in love with her felt dessert play food {It's so virtually yummy}.

Well, I like having you hang out here in my blog, but {pardon me} I have to kick you all over and check out these blogs.

Wish you all a beautiful week.

Just wanted to share a quick post....
I finished another layout this afternoon. This time is about my daughter.
I had so much fun using these colors and made the flowers.
So, here it is.....:D

Just some closer looks on the title and my handmade flowers {nothing really special...just fun flowers}

The paper collection I used on this layout was from Close To My Heart called More to Adore. It's just gorgeous. Already distressed and again love the color palette.
That's it for today. Thank you so much for stopping by.

Sweet Birthday Wishes Card

Monday, March 28, 2011
I have a special card that I'd like to share with you all today. I started this about a couple days ago...and finally finished this morning. Usually, it didn't take me so long to make a card, but this one was special.

You might be wondering what's so special about this card. Well, I finally learned the coloring technique using odorless mineral spirit or a.k.a Gamsol. It was so much fun....!!

I always want to color using Copic Markers...but I figure it will take me awhile to build my collections. So, I started to use regular colored pencil and the result isn't bad at all. I think I love it :D

So here's my card. It's a birthday card.
Look at the girl {image}...isn't she soo cute? This is one of many wonderful images that Mabelle has created. Check her Etsy store, Whimsy and Stars Studio, and I bet you'll love her adorable digi stamps.

A little close up...

Inside the card

And now...to my wonderful readers, I need your feedback about my coloring. Please let me know what you think. I need to practice and more practice {The Virtue: Practice makes Perfect}.

Well, thank you so much for stopping by today and also share your comments on my card.
Have a great week.

My Cute Boy Layout

Friday, March 25, 2011
I made this layout for last week Sketchy Thursday Challenge. When I finished the layout...I felt there's something missing or incomplete from my project. So, I finally added something. And I'm happy the way it turned out. However...I wasn't able to submit this....because I was late :( oh well!

Here's the sketch

And here's my layout

I love these pictures of Dustin. He was only 3 months old. I'd been waiting for awhile to scrap these photos and finally did it.

I used My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose Hattie collection..{LOVE Stella and Rose new lines}, and the Bear on the right bottom is a digi stamp from Pink Cat Studio. I colored it using regular colored pencils and gamsol. Just learned this technique and love it!!

Here's some close looks on the layout.

If you're wondering....I added the hand stitching around the layout at the last minute (and still couldn't make it for the challenge deadline. LOL).

Well, thank you for stopping by. Have a great weekend.

Altered Frame

Saturday, March 19, 2011
Just wanted to share with you all my recent swap project that I made. It's an Altered Frame. It's my very first altered project, and I love the way it turned out.

So, here it's my handmade creation...

I got the frame from Michaels, then I painted it with 2 different layers of chocolate. After the paint dried, I added some metallic copper glimmer using my homemade glimmer mist. While it's still wet, I used my heat gun and heated the frame. Love the effects from the glimmer mist.

I also made the flowers. Actually, I had tons of fun making these :D

I used Tim Holtz Tattered Flower Die, McGill Punch, some Blings and Tattered Angel Glimmer Mists (Dragonfly and Candy Apple Red).

After putting this together...I want to keep this frame to myself. LOL. Just Joking. :D
I need to pack this now and send it to my partner.
I hope she likes it. What do you think???

I asked my hubby if he wanted me to make a frame like this for him...and he answered yes and no. Yes for Please make an altered frame for me, and No for Please don't be so girly. LOL.
Well, we'll see what I can come up with.

Thank you for stopping by.

We Belong Together Layout

Friday, March 11, 2011
Hi Scrappers,

It's a beautiful day today here in Lincoln, Nebraska. As a matter of fact, I'm typing and watching my children playing in our backyard. I can feel the Spring is in the air. OOohhh I can't wait. It's been a weird and awful Winter this year, but I always look forward to gorgeous Spring days.

Well, this morning I finally finished a scrapbook layout that I made for a challenge over at Cosmo Cricket Blog. And the exciting part is, the winner will get published on Scrapbook Trends Magazine. So, without further a do..let me show you my layout.

I used Cosmo Cricket Togetherness collection for this project. I bought this paper pack last fall and hadn't had a chance to use it. Never found the right picture or time to play with this. So, when I read about the challenge...I knew right away it's time to brake the collection { =D} And by the way, LOVE Cosmo Cricket Togetherness collection!!!

About 90% of the embellishments came from the collection. I added some blings to the center of the flowers. And I made the burlap rosette flower.

I had tons of fun making this layout, and every time I look at this...{again} it reminds me of spring.

Ok...the day before I made this layout, I heard the song from Toy Story 3 titled We Belong Together {at the end of the movie} and I love it. I decided to used it as a title for this project.
I really love how this layout turned out, and I hope you do too.

Thank you for stopping by.
Have a blessed weekend and hope you can feel the Spring in the air.

A Star was Born Layout

Wednesday, February 9, 2011
I have a dirty little secret that I'd like to admit to all of you. I'm not sure if I should...but I think after admitting this..I hope to become a better scrapbooker. Ok...are you ready...???

I just started an album for my children. Seriously...I just started making pages about the days they were born. My son is 4 and my daughter is 2.  I'm so late and behind. Will I ever get this album done..? I hope so. A few days ago, I decided to take a challenge to finish 100 LOs by the end of the year. That's a lot!!!
I'm a crafter, meaning I do other crafty things, not just scrapbooking...So, I'm crossing my fingers that I will be able to make 100 layouts.

Anyway, today I'm going to share a layout that I just finished. It's about the day my son was born.
I called this layout "A Star Was Born". Of course, he's a star in our family :D
I used a sketch from Sketchy Thursday Challenge blog.

A little bit about this artwork -- The paper collection I used is from Close To My Heart called You Rock {Too bad it's already expired  retired}. I used a multi-colored emboss technique on the big star image and added Stardust Stickles. The Chipboard letters are from Making Memories and I dabbed multi-color inks, also added stickles. Letter stickers are Tiny Type from Cosmo Cricket.  Laces are from Hobby Lobby. And the blings -- the circle one is from Close To My Heart, and the big ones are from Michaels' dollar bin.

Well...I have 99 more layouts to go. Wish me luck :D
I hope to see you all soon. Be sure to come back often...and check out more layouts.
Take Care.

Happy "Choo Choo" Birthday

Tuesday, February 8, 2011
Today, four years ago, my dearest son, Dustin was born. Oh my goodness, time really goes by so fast. He means the world to all of us in the family. He's grown to be a cute and loving brother, son and train fanatic.

My husband and I spoiled him "a bit" with toy trains ever since he was very little. Since then, all he ever wanted just trains and more trains. I'm not even sure how many trains we have at home. Lets just say...my house is a house of trains :D

So, last week...my husband and I had a discussion about his birthday presents. And we came to a conclusion that we're going to get him another set of train. Then I told my husband that I'm going to make him a birthday card with train image.

Here's the card. I called it Happy "Choo Choo" Birthday Card.
The image I used on this project is from Pink Cat Studio  and Digi Stamp is called Billy Rides a Train. Isn't the stamp so cute..???!! {I LOVE PCS stamps SO MUCH.} I also used a sketch from Card Pattern # 101 Challenge.

Pardon my unprofessional coloring technique. I don't own that many Copic markers yet, so I used regular colored pencils. It was fun... :D

Tonight, we took him to Applebee's for a family celebration. And, the weird thing was...he didn't want to order any cake/dessert. Oh well...he's going to have a real birthday cake on Sunday when we celebrate his birthday with friends.

Well, thank you so much for stopping by, and I hope to see you soon.
